The Beautiful Cebu!

PAL flight bound Cebu on May 1st 2005. With husband Veejay, brother JT and cousin Carlo. We availed of the PALakbayan promo of PAL. P4.600 for a round trip airfare with hotel accommodation in Days Hotel for 3 nights and 4days.

CEBU:

1. Fort San Pedro.

Our first blast in the past. This was built by the Spaniards to repel muslim pirates. This was headed by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. In this spot, you will see cannons, sort of prison cells, and a big garden.

2. Basilica Del Sto. Nino

In this church you will find the oldest religious relic, which is the Sto. Nino. This was the image that Magellan gave to Queen Juana as a gift during baptism. They also have a museum where they showcase old relics, old priest's clerical clothing and other religious items. Picture taking is not allowed in the musuem.

3. Magellan's Cross

Some say this cross in this small chapel is now a replica. The sign says the original cross is buried below this cross. They had to protect the original one because people try to chip off a piece of it believing that it is miraculous.

4. Sutukil

Sutukil is a place which you should not miss when you are in Cebu. It is a seafood market where you buy your own food and decide how you want it to be cooked. They have crabs, prawns, squid, and a variety of fishes.

 5. Mactan Shrine

Beside Sutukil is Mactan Shrine. So after you dine, you won't miss passing by this park.  This is the place where Lapu Lapu and his men triumphed over the invaders.

6. Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort

This is a big beach resort with pool and lagoon for scuba diving lessons. They have sharks as well by the entrance for viewing.

7. Taoist Temple

This is located in the wealthy village of Cebu (Beverly Hills). It is the center of worship for Taoism. If you go 99 steps in the entrance, you will be rewarded with a good view of Cebu.

8. The Top

This is a spot where you can see the whole island of Cebu. The way you call it, it's the top of the world for Cebu. Nothing extra ordinary but the view. There's a few food booths in case u get hungry and a few spots good for picture taking.

8. Souvenirs and Pasalubongs

Every spot you go, there is a souvenir shop. But the best place to buy items is in the market. It's the cheapest and has the widest selection.. The most popular pasalubong in Cebu is danggit, dried mangoes, and chicaron. For Danggit and other dried fish, go to Tabo-an. Prepare yourself for the stinky smell.
